Special Notice from THE LADY BALL Toronto Committee and Ovarian Cancer Canada:
For the last few years, LOVE HER and THE LADY BALL in Toronto have been outstanding successes and it's because of you. We want to thank you for all your support.
You certainly know how to party for a great cause! We wanted to let you know that we are taking a break from the event to regroup - but only for a minute. In the meantime, the funds you've entrusted to Ovarian Cancer Canada continue to make an impact in our community.
Know that even bigger plans are already underway. The new strategic plan is focused on saving women's lives - doing everything possible to enable research breakthroughs and scientific progress against this disease, while continuing to ensure women with ovarian cancer can live fuller, better, and longer. With your help, we are going even further to empower preventive action that stops the disease from developing in the first place.
We invite you to be part of this story as we make history. Outcomes for women with ovarian cancer haven't improved for 50 years and that's 50 years too long. Your generous donation today would bring us closer to achieving our ambitious mission. We can only do it with your help.

Thank you again for the generosity you've shown in the past. We are considering our next special collaboration and look forward to being in touch with you soon.

“Empowering… emotional… amazing” are just some of the words used to describe the experience at The Lady Ball Toronto. Thanks to Metropolis5 for capturing the spirit of this event - for celebrating with survivors and supporting Ovarian Cancer Canada.

HONOURARY CHAIR:
HEATHER HEAPS After a long, successful business career full of overcoming challenges, Heather faced her biggest yet- she was diagnosed with stage lll ovarian cancer in August 2010. After two years of persistent symptoms that went undiagnosed by her healthcare team, Heather landed in the emergency room where the diagnosis was later confirmed and she began treatment. Two years ago, Heather faced a recurrence. She started on a phase III clinical trial for ovarian cancer patients who have BRCA1 and BRCA2 genetic mutations. She is enjoying life and shares her story to spread awareness about the importance of family history, and to give hope to other women living with ovarian cancer. She looks forward to lending her expertise to the committee and celebrating all the women in her life at The Lady Ball. |
CO-CHAIRS:
KELLY-JO WELLINGS Kelly-Jo Wellings is General Manager of Commercial Sales at Canada Post. In her role, Kelly-Jo (or KJ, as she likes to be called) manages the sales efforts of the single largest region within Canada. KJ is heavily involved with Ovarian Cancer Canada (OCC). She is currently volunteer organizing committee co-chair of the OCC’s 2017 annual fund-raising event The Lady Ball, being held in Toronto in March. This will be her 6th year co-chairing this event raising close to a $1M, and this is KJ’s 2nd year on the board of Ovarian Cancer Canada. Married and the mother of two children, KJ is a resident of Toronto. |
CAILEY HEAPS ESTRIN
Cailey’s greatest motivation for becoming involved with Ovarian Cancer Canada is her mother, Heather. Cailey watched Heather struggle with undiagnosed symptoms until it was later confirmed that she had ovarian cancer. Cailey considers herself lucky that she took the only preventative step against ovarian cancer. After testing positive for the BRCA1 genetic mutation, Cailey made the decision to have prophylactic surgery, which would significantly reduce her risk for developing breast and ovarian cancer in the future. Cailey is passionate about providing women the knowledge they need to take charge of their health. She is also the mother of two young girls and would like to do whatever she can to ensure they have long, healthy lives. |
LAUREN RICHARDS
Lauren Richards is a renowned media executive currently running her own consultancy, Pollin8 Communications, for marketing clients and media sales organizations. Previously she was the CEO of The Starcom MediaVest Group and SVP, National Media Director for Cossette, where she lead both organizations through many years of double digit growth. She is also the 2015 award recipient of The Virginia Greene Award for her help in advancing awareness of ovarian cancer through her work on The Ladyballs Campaign. After being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in July of 2014, Lauren reached out to Ovarian Cancer Canada to see how she could build awareness and help create a movement to improve the dreadful mortality rates associated with the disease and help generate funding for the development of a screening test. |
