Due to concerns related to COVID-19, and in the best interests of our generous donors and supporters in Calgary, Ovarian Cancer Canada cancelled THE LADY BALL Calgary 2020 and hosted THE LADY BALL 2.0 instead – our first ever virtual evening. We are sincerely grateful to our participants, sponsors and community members for making this event a success.

CALGARY CHAIR:
Michelle Schurman In the summer of 2013, while my mom was supposed to be enjoying retirement at her cottage, ovarian cancer showed up like an unwanted guest. She had a great team of doctors who continually tried to outsmart the cancer but, eventually, she just couldn’t fight any longer. Sadly, my mom passed away in August of 2017. Our family was heartbroken. On May 21st, we will gather to honor all of those affected by ovarian cancer. The money we raise at the Ladyball helps to fund new treatments and research - in particular, we need to find a reliable screening test for ovarian cancer and more genetic research will enable high risk women to make educated decisions about their health. Let’s have the ladyballs to ask for more funding and better treatments. Let’s have the ladyballs to celebrate in style (my mom would have wanted it that way!) and ask for our community’s support in making a difference. Ovarian cancer doesn’t discriminate. - one day it could be your mom, grandmother, sister, daughter, wife or friend. Together, let’s celebrate her. |
